5.8 miles out and back
Taylor's Canyon is my favorite local summertime trail. It's cool in that canyon and there's water for Tonka. This trail starts at 27th Street Trailhead and heads up directly into the mouth of the canyon. Look for trail signs to point you in the right direction if you get lost, but it'll be pretty hard. This trail shares the Malans Peak trail for about a mile. You'll see a trail sign that will point you to the right for Malans. Go past that sign to stay on Taylors Canyon trail.
When you take Taylors Canyon trail, you have two options. One: take the trail to where it ends abruptly or Two: take a discrete trail that will switchback up to Hidden Valley. Keep your eyes peeled for a trail that snakes off up in the north canyon slope.
