Location: Off of I-80 on the nevada border

You can view the salt flats from the rest stop or take the freeway exit and drive on the Bonneville Speedway Road for 3 miles into the middle of nowhere. The flats turn wet and muddy in the winter and becomes a mirror for the mountains in the horizon. I wouldn't recommend driving your car onto it.

There are no hiking trails or anything like that. Just pull over and look around and wander on the flats if it's dry. The mountains to the west of the flats are the Silver Island Mountain Range. There's no legit trails but there's a dirt road that goes up to them.
