Be sure to load up Google Maps while you are in good cell service to find the trail head. Once you get to the Zion Ponderosa Resort it becomes a maze of dirt roads. Keep an eye out for signs pointing you to Cable Mountain.
Once you get to the trailhead, you'll quickly see that parking is scarce at the gate. We met a couple that parked at Zion Lodge just down the road. That shouldn't add too much to your round-trip.
Once you're on the trail, you'll find yourself in a cedar forest with views of Zion canyon walls in the distance. The trail is very marked and will be hard to get lost on your way to Cable Mountain.
There is a mini waterfall about .5 miles into your adventure. I cooled myself in it on my way out and back from Cable Mountain.
We only saw 4 people the entire time. Definitely a trail for solitude seekers who want a view that rivals the popular Observation Point.
